Hello and Goodbye!

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Ah, feels good to be blogging again! It has been many moons since the sun set on 12Films12Weeks and I’m very excited that a new day has dawned over here at FourWeekFeature.

Keith and I are actually both headed off to the LAByrinth Theater Summer Ensemble, taking place this week at Bard College, so you won’t be hearing much from us. However, we have given login (blogin?) instructions to the other seven current team members of 4WF and they will be making their voices heard soon. Or their text readable, at least!

Hopefully, Keith and I will have some wonderful new insights and crazy ideas to bring into the 4WF experience. Stay tuned.

To creation!

Official Four-Week Feature t-shirts — exclusively through Kickstarter

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

One of my favorite things about embarking on a new project is getting a cool new t-shirt to strut around in — and these might just be the coolest yet.  They’re blue, they’re bold, they’re American Apparel; what more could you ask for?  Credit for the design goes to the wonderful Eric Noon.

If you’d like to snag one of these babies, go to our Kickstarter page and pledge your support. For only $30, you get a shirt and a DVD of the finished movie — assuming we reach our $10,000 funding goal.  If we don’t reach our goal, you get nothing, but you also pay nothing!  (Ain’t that just the way it goes …)

Other Kickstarter rewards include a thank-you in the film’s credits, a phone call from one of the producers, and — if you have $5,000 lying around — a short film made by our crack team on the subject of your choice. Come on, it’s worth a second mortgage. You know it is.

This blog is officially launched! And so is our fund-raising effort.

Monday, June 14th, 2010

I’ve had great fun in the last couple of days filling out the various pages of this blog.  It’s starting to look pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself!

Even more exciting: our Kickstarter project page is now up, complete with a promotional video that we shot on Mike’s roof back in late May (and a slick montage of our previous work that Mike brilliantly cut together).

This is what our Kickstarter page looks like. Click on the image to go there!

The Four-Week Feature marks the first time I’ve actually tried to raise money for a project, and I love the concept of Kickstarter: friends and strangers making small donations that add up to enough to make creative projects happen.  I know people who have used Kickstarter successfully, and I can’t imagine a better feeling than knowing that enough people like your idea to reach into their wallets for it — even if it’s just for a buck or two.

So check out our page, enjoy the promo, and if you’re feeling especially generous, give!  If you make a donation of $15 or above, you’re entitled to all kinds of fun rewards, which scale all the way up to the pipe dream of a $5000 donation (hey, you never know, right?).  Also, if you’d like to spread the word to your friends and family, you can copy and paste this abbreviated URL: http://tinyurl.com/help4wf

Watch this space for updates as we scour the globe for our tenth team member, struggle with logistics, and reflect on how insane we must be to be embarking on this project in the first place.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the blog is up!

Blastoff.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of our web designer Angela Koskela, our official Four-Week Feature blog is finally “soft-launched”!  (That means it’s up, but we haven’t told anyone about it.)  I’m very excited by this milestone in the project’s development, and childishly eager to get the first post in.  Now I’m off to start filling in people’s bios and other info.  I’ll see you back in this space soon!
